In 2017, Formel D continued to support OroVerde – The Tropical Forest Foundation in their endeavors to protect and regenerate forested areas, construct a water supply, and improve water quality. The “Wasserschutz ist Regenwaldschutz” (Protect the water and you’ll protect the rain forest) project, which was launched in 2014, has now been successfully completed together with the two municipalities Villa Hermosa and Poza Azul in Guatemala, Central America.
Anniversaries at Formel D have also once again been used as occasions to help reforestation efforts in the rainforest. Through a tree sponsorship program, each one of them automatically makes a personal contribution to protecting the world’s climate, in the form of 10 trees. More than 1,000 saplings have been planted over the four years of the project thanks to the partnership with Formel D. Here you will find the official certificate .
The successful work will now be continued in other parts of Guatemala. Formel D will support the OroVerde Project in Bocas del Polochic for this purpose in 2018. This rainforest region is home to endangered species such as jaguars, howler monkeys, manatees, and toucans as well as indigenous populations such as the Q’eqchí and Poqomchí. The aim is to improve the living conditions of the at times extremely poor people and regenerate and protect the forests and wetlands with their numerous species.
Our highly experienced project partner OroVerde is extremely committed to improving environmental protection. The Foundation cooperates closely with scientists from all around the world.
